Solar Installation on Versico Roofs

When considering rooftop solar, it is important to make sure the roof system is designed to last for the expected life of the solar array. One of the biggest mistakes a building owner can make when investing in solar is ignoring the roof system beneath it.

Installing a new roof as part of a solar energy system may also provide tax incentives or opportunities to lower the cost of installing a new roof.

This guide lays out the suggested steps to follow for ensuring proper solar array installations on a Versico roof.

STEPS FOR INSTALLING SOLAR ON A VERSICO ROOF

New roofs (solar installed within 1 year of roof completion date on warranty):

#1: Post-Roof Completion & Pre-Solar Panel Installation

  Inspection

#2: Solar panel installation

Solar panels are installed. Note: Versico recommends that solar racking is anchored to a structural component of the building. Attachment methods that rely on a weld or adhesion directly to the roof membrane will not be accepted.Any roof penetrations are flashed by the roofing contractor per Versico specifications and details.

#3: Post-installation inspection

The roof must be reinspected for damage and proper installation of any new details. For Versico’s Total System Warranty, an inspection fee of $500 must be paid prior to scheduling the inspection.
